These fungi can also be damaged by herbicides within the soil. One study discovered that oryzalin and trifluralin both inhibited the rise of certain varieties of mycorrhizal fungi.45 Roundup is shown to be toxic to mycorrhizal fungi in laboratory studies, and some damaging effects were seen at concentrations a lesser amount than those seen in soil following typical applications. 46,47 Triclopyr have also been found to be toxic to a few varieties of mycorrhizal fungi,48 and oxadiazon reduced the volume of mycorrhizal fungal spores.49
